Vessel Preparation for Grain & Other Cargoes

Grain Sampling

The Australian Quarantine & Inspection Services (A.Q.I.S.)   is the appointed governmental  agency for the implementation of the  requirements of  The Export Control Act (1982) and to determine if the requirements are, in fact, being met.

Exporters must meet,  both the statutory requirements of the ' Export Act.',  and any end-user country’s relevant quarantine requirements.

Aries Maritime Services is staffed by AQIS-approved Grain Surveyors who are very experienced in supervising hold preparation and are frequently engaged by vessel operators to prepare and upgrade the condition of the vessel's suitability for 'Loading, Carriage and Storage of Grain and other Cargoes in Bulk.'

Similarly, A.Q.I.S. prescribes very stringent requirements for importing of Fertiliser in bulk into Australia. Our Surveyors are accredited by Fertiliser Industry Federation of Australia (F.I.F.A.)

Preparation of cargo holds entails removal of any contaminants from the cargo holds, check its water-tight integrity of hatch-covers and other openings ito the cargo holds and proper function of the hold bilges.

If the condition of the hold is deemed unsatisfactory for its intended cargo, we recommend detailed corrective action required to upgrade the condition of the vessel's cargo holds to the required standards. If required, Aries Maritime Services provides a expert practical assistance in preparation of the holds to the required standards.

Once the vessel has met the prerequisite of applicable standards and a 'Certificate of Approval to Load Cargo in Bulk" is received by vessel.
